What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
— Oliver Wendell Holmes

Nicki Rimke, MC, R. Psych.

Life has a way of throwing us into "drastic changes" that leave us feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. Whether you are navigating the heavy fog of depression, the constant "what-ifs" of anxiety, or the deep ache of grief and loss, you shouldn't have to carry that weight alone. From the complex sting of infidelity or betrayal in a marriage to the lingering shadows of trauma, these demanding seasons require more than just "getting through"—they require a clear path forward to healing and resilience.

I’m Nicki Rimke, a Registered Psychologist with 11 years of experience helping individuals and families move from chaos to clarity.

My perspective is shaped by a deep well of lived experience; having navigated many different roles and seasons of life, I understand the complex stressors that come with major transitions. My background as a civilian photographer with the Canadian Armed Forces allowed me to witness firsthand what courage and resilience looks like in the face of trauma—and I bring that same sensitivity, grit, and strength into every session today.

I believe that meaningful change requires both a solid structure and a personal touch. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as the evidence-based foundation for all my work, ensuring you have practical tools to manage your thoughts and behaviours from the very beginning.

Building on that foundation, we can work together to integrate specialized approaches to create a plan as unique as you are:

·       For Couples: Together, we will weave in the proven Gottman Method to replace conflict and disconnection with constructive communication and meaningful repair.

·       For Adults: We can draw tools from Cognitive Processing Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as Polyvagal, Somatic, and Attachment Theory to help you process trauma, improve your mood, and finally reclaim your life story.

·       For Children & Teens: We access specific tools from Narrative, Play, and Art Therapy, alongside psychoeducational assessments as needed, to help your child unlock their potential and find joy in learning again.

I bring empathy, acceptance, and a quirky sense of humour to our work. When I’m not in the office, you’ll likely find me in the park, my garden or my kitchen. I believe that whether we are tending a garden or cultivating a flourishing life, the process requires patience, care, and the right tools.

Let’s stop the cycle of just “getting by” and start building a life that feels whole again.
