Nancy is a Registered Psychologist who holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology.
Her experience in crisis and suicide intervention along with her research into intimate betrayal trauma, has given her a deep understanding of the intense pain and hopelessness that can manifest for some individuals.
She provides Gottman Method Couples Therapy, as well as personalized counselling for adults, young adults, teens, and couples dealing with: anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, trauma, loss, and addictions. In addition, she is trained in psychoeducational and behavioural assessments for school aged children and post-secondary students.
Nancy uses an Integrative, Trauma Informed approach to therapy, which may include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused, and Psychodynamic therapies. She views each client as a unique individual and customizes her therapeutic approach based on their specific challenges and needs. Nancy believes in humour as well as tears in her therapeutic relationships, and provides an abundance of acceptance, empathy, and kindness.
Her specialty is in compulsive sexual behaviour disorder and intimate betrayal trauma. She is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and a Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist (CSAT, CMAT). She received her training from the renowned International Institute of Addiction and Trauma Professionals (IITAP) in Carefree, AZ. She has also done extensive research on Sex Addiction and Partner trauma.
Along with her academic and training credentials, she brings her own life experience to aid in working with individuals and couples working on their challenges. She approaches each client with careful respect, and believes that most people have untapped resiliency, strength, and potential within. Her gift is her patience in helping her clients get unstuck.
Nancy has travelled North America extensively, and loves to immerse herself in the neighbourhoods and cultures of the places she visits. In her personal time, she loves to entertain and feed her family and friends, and enjoys reading, bike riding, yoga, and going for walks with her husband and dog.
