Marii-Heleen Motsmees is a Provisional Psychologist who holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology, specializing in school and clinical psychology. Having previously worked as a school psychologist in Estonia and with children with special needs here in Canada, Marii has seen first-hand how simple changes can help children reach their full potential. Both her professional and personal experiences have strengthened her belief that in order to help children succeed, we need to support the whole family.
Marii loves to work with children, families, and couples. She also works with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, transitions, and interpersonal difficulties. She is honoured to be a guide for her clients to help them overcome obstacles, find their inner strengths, and move forward feeling empowered.
Marii utilizes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing along with Mindfulness activities.
With her younger clients, she also uses techniques from Play Therapy. Marii also has in-depth training and experience in provision of Psychoeducational Assessments for children and teens, working closely with schools and families to make sure her younger clients are getting the support they need to thrive.
Marii brings acceptance, empathy, calmness, and creativity to her therapeutic relationships. Her approach to therapy is inspired by her belief that every person is unique and has something valuable to give to the world. In her personal time, you can find Marii reading books, spending time outdoors with her family, and cooking with her friends.
